SLU-PP-915 is a synthetic small molecule, not a peptide, and it belongs to a family of compounds that activate the so-called ERR receptors. This class is often described with the loud phrase "exercise mimetic", so it is worth separating up front what the research actually shows from what is still just a direction.

What SLU-PP-915 is, briefly

SLU-PP-915 is an agonist of the estrogen-related receptors (ERR), nuclear receptors that regulate cellular energy metabolism, including mitochondrial function. Where the interest came from

This series grew out of work on synthetic ERR agonists. One foundational paper showed that an ERR agonist triggers an ERRα-dependent acute aerobic programme in the cell, resembling the one activated during physical exercise (ACS Chem. Biol., 2023). Hence the "exercise mimetic" label: the idea is not to "replace training" but to reproduce part of the intracellular response to it.

A later paper specifically described the orally active ERR agonist SLU-PP-915 and its pharmacology (J. Pharmacol. Exp. Ther., 2026). Note that these are preclinical data from cell and animal models, not clinical results in humans.

Why researchers find it interesting

ERR receptors are a convenient lever for studying how a cell manages energy and mitochondria. An orally bioavailable agonist like SLU-PP-915 is useful because it lets these pathways be probed in controlled experiments without injections. The word "mimetic" here describes the intracellular logic, not a promised outcome.
