ARA-290 / cibinetide dosing schedule
> Updated:
Human schedule
ARA-290 (cibinetide) was administered subcutaneously (SubQ) once daily in studies. The figures below are generalized from published Phase 2 clinical protocols as a reference.
This is a concise reference to regimens described for adults; it is not an individual prescription.
ARA-290 dosing (cibinetide) in the studies is always described as one subcutaneous injection per day rather than a dose split across multiple administrations, unlike some other peptides on this site.
| Period / condition | Dose | Escalation |
|---|---|---|
| Tolerance assessment | 1–2 mg subcutaneously, once daily | Starting dose |
| Main course (28 days) | 4 mg subcutaneously, once daily | Main studied dose |
| Upper studied bound | 8 mg subcutaneously, once daily | Maximum in this schedule |
Practical dosing and effect details
In a study by Brines and colleagues (Molecular Medicine, 2015), patients with type 2 diabetes self-administered 4 mg of subcutaneous ARA-290 (cibinetide) daily for 28 days, followed by an additional month of observation without treatment. Over that period, HbA1c fell significantly (p=0.002) and PainDetect neuropathic symptom scores improved (p=0.03); the cholesterol-to-HDL ratio (p=0.039) and triglycerides (p=0.043) also declined. The effect persisted across the full 56-day observation, including the month without dosing, pointing to a slow-building effect rather than a short-lived response to a single injection. The 4 mg daily dose used in this study matches the main regimen in the table on this page; the higher and lower figures there mark the range studied in the same trial.
