In a study by Devarakonda and colleagues (Journal of the American Heart Association, 2020), mice received a single 0.25 mg/kg intraperitoneal dose of B7-33 five minutes before blood flow was restored after myocardial ischemia. At 24 hours, fractional shortening in the treated animals was 29.57±1.74% versus 23.34±1.84% in controls, meaning cardiac function was better preserved after one well-timed dose. The dose was chosen to be equimolar to the relaxin dose used in an earlier study from the same group (Hossain and colleagues, Chemical Science, 2016), which first described B7-33 as a selective RXFP1 agonist. This is a single acute dose in a mouse model, not a daily human schedule; the results do not prove an effect in humans and do not match the doses in the table on this page, which is extrapolated from other sources.
