GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide (6 amino acids) in the growth-hormone-secretagogue class, acting as an agonist at the GHS-R1a receptor — the same receptor targeted by endogenous ghrelin. Muscle-growth and recovery research uses GHRP-6 as a tool for stimulating pulsatile growth-hormone release from the pituitary.
Unlike GHRH analogues such as CJC-1295, GHRP-6 works through a separate receptor, which is why the two classes are frequently studied together in the literature. GHRP-6 is also known for a pronounced effect on appetite — a direct consequence of the ghrelin pathway, and a research angle in its own right.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder; every batch is assayed by HPLC.
