Practical dosing and effect details
Glutathione is a tripeptide that is poorly absorbed when taken orally: digestive-tract enzymes, gamma-glutamyltransferase among them, break it down before absorption. Research protocols work around that barrier with injection or infusion, which is why this page lists three variants at once. IM or SubQ administration in smaller doses (200-1200 mg weekly, split across several injections) is described for maintaining a steady level; IV infusion in larger single doses (500-1400 mg) is described where the protocol calls for less frequent visits. Which route a published source uses is more often a matter of protocol convenience than a fundamental difference in how the compound acts: IV infusion is more often described under clinical supervision, while IM or SubQ dosing shows up outside a clinic too.
