Summary: The PT-141 (bremelanotide) sample on the Longeva hub carries a research use only (RUO) status: it is a synthetic peptide reagent for laboratory protocols, not a finished prescription drug and not Vyleesi.
The same peptide, bremelanotide, is the active ingredient of the injectable drug Vyleesi, approved by the FDA in 2019 for hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. Vyleesi is registered, dosed and monitored as a medicine. The Longeva sample is not Vyleesi: it is supplied strictly for laboratory research, with no medical labeling, dosing syringe or patient instructions.
PT-141 is described as a synthetic, non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist, primarily at MC3R and MC4R. Research on this class looks at sexual desire and arousal through central neural mechanisms, unlike PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil), which act on vascular blood flow. That target difference, brain versus vasculature, is a standard point of comparison in the pharmacology literature on libido.
Melanocortin receptors are also studied in skin pigmentation and energy homeostasis, so the same class covers related peptides such as Melanotan II, which acts on the same receptors with a different profile of studied effects.
